Returned shell of the tortoise
Once there was a tortoise in a green field.
He was eating some lettuce leaf in that field,
and then he heard a growl.
'Who is eating all my best lettuces?'
a voice said.
Tortoise looked up and saw an ugly old troll.
'Excuse me, Sir, but I was hungry,'
'Hungery-bungery'
'you are a thief even to nibble the tiniest leaf.'
'Greenery-beanery, you are a grabber to begrudge me a bit of lettuce,'
said Tortoise.
'For those word,'
said Troll,
'you shall pay.'
'Shell, shell, off with you.'
And before Tortoise could say wind-in-the-clover,
off flew his shell.
'Hohohohoho,'
laughed the Troll.
'Oh-oh-oh'
moaned Tortoise, and began crawling away.
shivery and frightened,
He hid in a wood and cried big, cold tears.
Suddenly he heard two voices.
He looked round to see a raven looking down at him and a hedgehog looking up at him.
'Why do you cry?'
they asked.
He wiped away his tears with his claw.
and between big sobs, he told them his story.
'They you what I'll do,'
said Raven,
'I'll fly to the lettuce field, find your shell and bring it back to you.'
'And I'll stitch it on with one of my needles,'
said Hedgehog.
And soon Tortoise was as neat and smart as he had ever been.
