Long ago, there lived a kind man who lived with his mother.
The son received many blessings and got married.
The son, daughter-in-law and mother lived together.
But, whenever the son was gone, the daughter-in-law was mean to the mother.
"Gee, why do you eat so much?"
The mother was really said, but there was nothing she could do.
The son did not know about this.
He left them to take the civil examination.
The mother wanted to tell her son not to go, but she couldn't.
After the son left, the daughter-in-law was even meaner.
The mother waited for the day her son would come back.
One day, the mother was working in the kitchen and broke a dish.
"Oh, gee, why are you breaking dishes."
"I really can't live with you."
yelled the daughter-in-law
The daughter-in-law kicked the mother out of the house on a cold winter day.
The mother wanted to blame the daughter-in-law , but thought it was her own fault and felt sorry.
It was cold and the mother was hungry, but she had nowhere to go.
The old mother collapsed in the fields and died.
The son returned and, when he found out, he went looking for his mother.
When he could not find his dead mother.
He sat in the field and cried.
A bud appeared where his tears fell.
The flower bloomed when it saw the son.
The son believed that the flower was his mother.
He cried and begged for forgiveness.
That flower was the windflower and people call it the 'granny flower'.
