Once upon a time, creative decisions were made on the basis of experience and intuition. Focus groups helped to develop, but not determine content and panel data was used to measure success after broadcast. All that is changing with our ability to collect and correlate vast amounts of personal data in real time; from social media, search engines, set-top boxes and shopping carts -- telling us what people want, when they want it. But where is this leading? Will there be room for original, game-changing ideas in a world where we give everyone what they want without knowing, or caring why?
In this session, delegates got an introduction to Big Data from one of the world's leading experts on the subject, The Economist's Kenn Cukier, followed by three short presentations from three industry figures who are leading the charge into data driven content.
